Closest I can go with comparative images at Smilax is Smilax ovalifolia Roxb. ex D.Don
But this will only be tentative without flowers or fruits.

Could it be Smilax perfoliata ??


Smilax perfoliata Loureiro, Fl. Cochinch. 622 (1790) - T. Koyama in Fl. E. Himal. 417 (1966) - Bull. Dept. Med. Pl. Nep. 2:126 (1969).

S. prolifera Wall. ex Roxb., Fl. Brit. Ind. 6:312 (1892).

Dense shrubby climber. Branches stout, prickly. Leaves 13-23 cm long and 6.5-14 cmbroad, ovate, acuminate to orbicular-ovate, 3-7-costate, base subcordate or rounded; petiole2-3.5 cm long, stout, sheathing portion forming two large basal amplexicaul erect or reflexedauricles. Umbels 3-nate or whorled, many-flowered. Peduncle 1.5-2 cm long; pedicels 0.6 cm long; bracteoles minute. Flowers small, sepals oblong-lanceolate. Filaments slender. Ovary oblong.

Distribution : Northern India, N. Burma, northern Indo-China and S. China; in Nepal - east and central.

Ecology: Occurs in temperate forest.Uses :
