... I think it to be Curcuma pseudomontana, the wild turmeric • Malayalam: kattu manjal • Marathi: रानहळद raan halad, शिंदळवान shindalavana or शिंदळवानी shindalavani • Tamil: kattu manjal • Telugu: అడవి పసుపు adavi pasupu
Regards.

Hello all
Crinum pseudomontana has yellow corolla
since the flowers here are pink with yellow lip it can be
Crinum neilgherrensis Wt. since it has 2-lobed lip
also the spike has evolved before the leaves hence it can be the above
species.

Thanks satish Ji. As you rightly pointed out, the leaves in case of Crinum- neilgherrensis appear after flowering.

best wishes
Prashant

Requesting ID of Curcuma, possibly neilgherrensis ...

Satish ji, I see 2-lobed yellow lip, and most of the other part of flower pink coloured, the spike seems to have peculiar form in this particular case; also I see a large leaf ... but I am not able to gage which may have appeared earlier - the flowers or the leaf.

Regards.

The leaves are definitely turmeric and the flowers do resemble that of

Hello Gar Ji
this was earlier (30 June 09) identified as
Crinum neilgherrensis Wt. since it has 2-lobed lip
also the spike has evolved before the leaves species.
