If this is indeed from S India it could very well be an undescribed species as it does not seem to fall in any of the known species for India. To to be sure I will ask the person that will do the Amorphophallus treatment for the new and upcoming Flora of India and ask him to reply to the group. Stunning find!

Dear Dr. Garg,
I could not find a literature reference for the suggestion of Wilbert (ssp. brevipedunculata) but I referred Puttaraju to that exact variety anmodensis too as it was described from Goa and that is close to where this plant was found.

Sivadasan is correct but I thought the name ssp. or var. brevipedunculatus had been published earlier for what is var. anmodensis.Will check that again.
