Dear members,
Efloraofindia is fortunate that we are completing 12 years of our existence today on 17.6.19 as we have seen so many e-groups (even those which used to very active) getting disappeared in the deluge of WhatsApp and Facebook, iNaturalists & eBirds etc.
This has been possible due to stalwarts like Gurcharan Singh ji, who gave us a proper direction and tried to take us where we are today. He formulated keys, where ever possible to clear the confusion among similar species or different species of a genus. These keys still decorate lot of efi site pages at the top to guide our readers from all over the world. This is just one aspect to highlight his great contributions. More can be seen at Pitamah of efloraofindia. Let us not forget him and so many others, who may not be actively participating these days.   
Efloraofindia is an unending journey, where so many persons get up at some station and get down at some other station- many of them leaving an indelible imprint during their journey, from which mankind will continue to be benefitted.
Today we have images on almost all threads displayed already and efforts are being made to increase them as far as possible. Already more than 1,75,000 images are directly displayed at our site and these quite frequently appear in Google search and Google search image results etc.
Our such endeavours have put us at the forefront in this global world. We are getting better and better in our identifications and accuracy with increased support from our efi site database.
But a lot is still required to be done in this never ending journey.  
We take this opportunity to thank one and all for being a passenger in this wonderful journey and along with those like Great Gurcharan Singh ji, who may not be actively involved now.

I still remember the frenzy of posting during family weeks / months that he organized ... it was tremendous excitement every month for all of us: ones who were querying IDs; ones who were keen to validate the IDs (Gurcharan ji used to validate almost every post); and ones who posted their sightings. It was during these times that the database grew plenty rich and paved the way for increased participation. Lots of thanks to everyone who have made, and are making this journey a wonderful experience.

Congratulations efI,

On this special day, when this unique venture has completed glorious 12 years, I express my sincere gratitude to the founders, selfless experts, wonderful mentors, excellent photographers and world class taxonomists, who have all come together, and strengthened  efloraofIndia....!!
The journey of 12 years had been full of ups and downs, but the consistent and concentrated efforts of Garg Ji have always inspired one and all. He really took enormous pains to keep many pearls together in a strong thread of integrity...!!
The database is extraordinary and adorable now. I hope it will be improving day by day. I wish all the best to all the contributors, and my special regards to Gurcharan Sir for all the guidance and motivation. Salutes to the entire team, everyone of which has been a strong building block for this wonderful resource...!!

Thanks Garg ji and all friends for kind words. Yes I see lesser activity in the group, and don't see many posts by members. Compilation of data and putting it on the website is a great and very useful activity undertaken by Garg ji and others, but I think posting of new plants is also very necessary for keeping this email group active, when members find it more convenient to interact on Facebook and WhatsApp.
