Dear members,

Aarti ji is with us during this wonderful journey of efi, since 30.12.2009. Shortly she will be completing 10 years of her association with efloraofindia.

She has become only the 7th member to complete 10,000 messages in the history of efloraofindia.

She is a globe trotter and always posts plants from all over the world. She has attained expertise in many areas of plant identifications, particularly ornamental plants. She also helps others in ids, when ever she gets more time.

She has been one of the most valuable members during this long journey of efi, with enormous contributions, for which she will always be remembered.

My Great salute to Aarti ji, for her contributions, in building eFlora of India.

Thanks a lot Sir.

It is the interest you created in us, that am trying to follow in my spare time.

I can never forget your willingness to teach me with patience, always being very humble and never being rude which made it comfortable and a pleasure to interact with you.

Those were the days with you, Dr Satish Ji, Vijayasankar Ji, Tanay, Dinesh Ji, Pankaj Ji, Madhuri Ji, and so many others, and not to forget Garg Ji which I still remember.

Family weeks, and other Fortnights which made us scan through all our pictures to add more and more.

Thanks a lot Sir.

I do so remember my interactions with you.

And for all the help in solving my posts.

You will appreciate that when you go for sight seeing or on a tour, it is almost impossible to stop in one place for longer.

At times you just manage to click as you walk.

Both my US trips were for family weddings only.

it was fun looking at the Atlanta Bot G pictures you took this year or last?

nice to see it had blossomed// filled in

I appreciate the rush you feel when travelling

despite the rush you have managed a large number of photos

but often we all want to see side view, more pictures etc

About being rushed, I experience it all the time

I too did two hurried trips to USA for weddings this year

I have been doing it for many many years now

I wake up early and walk around the resorts or local streets around the hotel or the house

where we stay for vacation or marriage or what not

I take pictures of the well cosseted plants and even local weeds

I also go off to Botanical gardens or old ashram or church lots on my own

Botanical gardens always have labels at least all the NY ones

and Large nurseries esp like Monrovia stocked ones or White flower farm

( good smaller ones have closed by the dozens, to my dismay)

or weeds on streets : none

I have had to spend a lot of time on google to find ID

this Year I had a hard time classifying all the maples and their relatives that I saw in

large wilderness areas in upstate NEW York.

I love the nurseries when they are not too crowded

managers are always nice if I tell them my interest was photography

sometimes they even send a botanist along

in one of the nurseries, there was an Indian girl who was very knowledgeable

this year she had left to go teach at a college

some nature centers have labels, some have very good docents/ volunteers

they always are very helpful

because the nature centers' purpose for existence is educating local community and children especially

they are very helpful if asked.

In the nutshell we all appreciate it that travel time photography is always rushed

unless one is on a deliberate group that goes out just for photography of plants or flowers

I have gone on such trips where we took turns to photograph same one flower or group during the course of

one entire morning... Those are rare times of fun and friendship and camaraderie.
