Dear Sirs,

Could you show me the upper surface of the leaves please. Or how many tubers are there per individual plant. These are the keys for identification. Thank you.

Pudji ji, I do not have pictures of upper surface of leaf; but I will surely get it when I visit the garden again. I will post the pictures in this thread.

I am not sure of the number of tubers; I will ask the garden keeper about it.

Hello Dinesh

When I had visited the garden, I was told that this was the 'Coffee Cup' cultivar, since the leaves were shaped like a cup. When you poured water on a leaf, it would tilt due to the weight of water and the water would pour out just like from a cup.

Dear Pudji ji, ... hopefully these pictures help in seeing upper surface of the leaves. The gardener is not aware of the number of tubers for a plant. I believe the ID is correct. OR do you think there is any other species close to this one ?

Dear Dinesh Ji,

Colocasia esculenta is very tricky.

If the leaf intramarginal vein is not clear, leaf upper surface is very waxy then it is C. esculenta

If the leaf intramarginal vein is clear, leaf upper surface is slightly waxy then it is Xanthosoma sagittifolium

If it has only one tuber, then it is C. esculenta

If it has many tubers, then it is X. sagittifolium.

Many amny thanks Pudji ji for validation.

My posted plant - to me is different from your plant - mainly your plant leaf has negligible "cup" shape, the leaves are relatively large too.

About waxy - yes my posted plant does have waxy texture; also I do not see clear, pronounced intra-marginal vein in my plant - which if I am not mistaking runs along the leaf margin.
