Dear all,

Please help me to identify this Malvaceae herb found in dry lakebed. Could this be Sida spinosa?

Location: Tiruvallur dist (near Chennai), TN

Hi, Muthu ji,
Closest I could found as per comparative images at ‎Sida is Sida spinosa L. only.
However, images of leaves in your post look a bit longer compared to images in efi at Sida spinosa L.

I think it is closer to images at Sida acuta Burm.f. rather than those at Sida spinosa L.

It's Sida spinosa only to me not Sida acuta,

It's very variable based on habitat Garg Ji,
the main reason is spine-like projections at axils,
if still have doubt wait for experts comments,
