Elaeocarpus tuberculatus Roxb. Fam: Elaeocarpaceae wild tree seen near Talacauvery, Coorg and Gudalur near Ooty. Dried leaved highly bitter just like Kalmeg.

But as per Revision of Elaeocarpus (Elaeocarpaceae) Section in South India & Sri Lanka - Jstor : Sue Zmarzty Kew Bulletin Vol. 56, No. 2 (2001), pp. 405-447, there is no such species found in South India.
