Thanks Saroj ji and Garg ji for resurfacing this post.
I think my pictures may not be showing sufficient aspects to ascertain any species of Calamus.
It does look like Calamus thwaitesii, but there is another one - Calamus pseudotenuis which looks similar.
If someone asserts ID with full confidence, we will go with it, else will stay at genus ID.

Not much images and journals in net to validate, so it is indeed not a easy task unless expert in the subject comes forward.

Yes Saroj ji, some plants do not have sufficient presence on the internet.
Let us hope that eFI will be flooded with images of plants from the field and subject experts - especially those that are scarce and grey on the internet.

Yes Garg ji, it must be the same as what you have pointed to.
Let us hope that someone gives us the ID confidently, else I will leave it at genus ID - Calamus.
