These two species are widely found around the Rajaji N.P
File Pictures from 2007/April.
Would like to be aware of both common name and scientific name.

Thanking you
Ananda

Hi, Ananda ji,
I agree with Sibdas ji.
See Dinesh ji's link with details for Clerodendron infortunatum (hill glory bower, bhant) at: http://flickr.com/photos/dinesh_valke/2319011288/
Anybody on Rumex sp. in the first picture?

... could PIX1 be Rumex vesicarius, the bladder dock ... it looks close to what I have here: http://www.flickr.com/search/?w=91314344@N00&q=Rumex&m=text
and PIX2 is most likely Clerodendrum viscosum (syn. C. infortunatum), the hill glory bower, Saraswaty's leaf, sticky glorybower

Regards.

A doubt
Since the fruits of Rumex look so much like Dodonea, is there some connection? Same family?

No., Dodonea belongs to Sapindaceae, but Rumex to Polygonaceae, not
related.

Hi, Ananda ji,
Can you send a close up picture or other pictures showing leaf etc.? Was it a tree or a shrub?

I came across similar formation in Hyderabad yesterday, at which I was surprised first but later on closer scrutiny found it to the young fruit of Kanju (Holoptelea integrifolia). I am attaching one picture, though it is unable to show the composition that I wanted to. Though I am not sure whether it matches with Ananda ji's picture. I think it is quite a common tree in the area mentioned by Ananda ji.

Here is the Ananda ji's reply:
"It was a shrub rather than a tree."
