These are the flowers, not fruit, of a Stachyurus himalaicus. The leaves belong to something else.

Hi, I grow this purple-red flowered form here in the UK. It was introduced long ago into the UK and has been reintroduced since, in the last 20 years from the Arun Valley, Nepal. The Hillier Manual of Trees and Shrubs describes this species' flower colour thus: '...varying from yellow to wine-purple or rose-pink'.

I am now of the opinion that the foliage in the photo is actually that of the Stachyurus. It looked wrong at first glance, but the slightly bullate upper surface, reddish petiole and long taper pointed tip fit the description.
