ID is correct. Common in Puduchery & Tamil Nadu.   According to  Wikipedia it is rechristened as Libidibia coriaria.  But  I do not know the correctness of the name .  This is one of the tanniferous plants called Divi-DivI. Beautiful rather high quality leather are produced using the fruit extract. Kannada name : Alde kaayi, divi-divi . Divi Divi in Tamil.

Thanks Usha di. Yes, an exotic plant, found planted may be for its curious looking pods, and ornamental feather leaves.
Not sure if there is any account maintained about exotics in our country.

Just checked the status of name. It is an accepted name, and Libidibia coriaria (Jacq.) Schltdl. is a synonym - as per taxonomical sites.
