Is this Asteraceae? 190310MK1

Dear all,

please help to id this herb found on sandy beach of a river. I suspect this to be belonging to Asteraceae.

Is this Launaea acaulis (Roxb.) Babc. ex Kerr ?

Date/Time-	13-12-2009 / 12:00 PM
Location- Place, Altitude, GPS-	Satyamangalam RF; in aperrenial stream. ca. 400msl
Habitat- Garden/ Urban/ Wild/ Type-	wild (psammophyte)
Plant Habit-	Herb
Height/Length-	Up to 10 cm height
Leaves Type/ Shape/ Size-	Leaves lanceolate; up to 5cm long
Inflorescence Type/ Size-	terminal;
Flowers Size/ Colour/ Calyx/ Bracts-
Fruits Type/ Shape/ Size Seeds-

Dear Muthu Ji,

Can be Launaea acaulis but I am not sure!! Because the plant doesn't bear flowers . I am bad at identifying plants without flowers but the prescence of young capitulum is distinct . So just supporting your thoughts.

To me it looks some species of Gnaphalium, inflorescence should clinch the issue.
