    Attached images may  be Cyperus sp. Please ID the plant. 

Date :07.02.2014

Location: Assam

Family : Cyperaceae

Genus & species : Cyperus sp. (?)

Habitat: Grows wild on bank of the pond

Habit : Herb

"It can be Fimbristylis bisumbellata (Forssk.) Bubani or F. squarrosa Vahl, need a specimen to confirm the identity.

It is difficult to select one between the two ids. The KEY starts with stle-base - http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=112803#KEY-1-17.;

However, I would go for Fimbristylis squarrosa Vahl, for its pubescent and markedly longer (than inflorescence) involucral bracts and spreading spikelets.
