If it is an Aronia the 2 that are planted at Battery Park are listed as:
A. arbutifolia 'Brilliantissima' aka Red Chokeberry and
A. melanocarpa aka Black Chokeberry;

Thanks for the two Aronia Species.
To me the fruits look closer to Black Chokeberry, Aronia melanocarpa.
These pictures were taken on 20th June,17.
