Hello Indesigners all,
On a desktop iMac, late 2014, version 11.7.10 (20G1427), I am having difficulty bringing a photo with a transparent background into Indesign CC 19.5 from Photoshop CC 24.7.0.
I am following these steps:
In photoshop, the transparency looks like the first shot, here:

The checkerboard surrounding the guitar is what I wish to be transparent, so when it is applied to a t-shirt the color of the t-shirt will surround and hug the guitar.
When I Place it in Indesign, it looks like the second screenshot:

As far as I know, the white surrounding the guitar in the InDesign screenshot is not transparent.
Can anyone tell me where I’ve gone wrong?
I’d appreciate it very much.
BR to all,
Bill Amatneek

Hi Bill,
I tried this on my 2013 iMac running CC20 (the closest I have to CC19) and on my 2023 MacBook Pro running CC25.
On both computers, I could load the file into InDesign as a png, tiff, or psd and retain transparency.
Perhaps InDesign CC19 is having an issue with an image from Photoshop CC24?
I would try saving the image in the other available formats. If that doesn’t work, you could open or copy/paste the image in Photoshop CC19, if you have it, to see if updates to Photoshop are causing the problem with InDesign CC19.

Thanks, Rebecca.
I’ll try some of your solutions.
