Good morning, Richard and the Inception community.
Happy Holidays.

A quick question: does Inception support annotating discontinuous named entities?
In the version I tested, I didn't find this native option, but perhaps a possibility such as span annotation.

Thanks in advance.
Best regards,

Berg Oliveira

Hi every one.
In the same project, I'm trying to import Brat files in Inception.
So, after a few attempts, even enabling the settings.properties to brat, I receive the error message below
"Error while uploading document [TJ-SP_teste2.zip]: IllegalStateException: Unable to find appropriate UIMA type for brat type [ARTIGO]".

"ARTIGO" is the named entity.
So, can somebody help me?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Berg.

Did you create the annotation schema on the INCEpTION side?

To import files from brat into inception you need to configure your project first. You need to have a span and relation layer in your project. Then you need to add the features corresponding to your annotation schema from Brat. The span layer features should match the entities from brat. The relations must also be added to the INCEpTION relation layer. You may also need to create  tagsets depending on your annotation schema.

More details can be found on the docs.

Best regars

Filipe

Try creating a new project using the "Basic span and relation" template.
Then try importing your brat data. That should map the brat span labels
into the span layer and the brat relation labels into the relation layer.
If you have multiple attributes in brat, you might get an error message
that the target feature is not found on your span layer. In that case,
you have to add additional string features to the span layer matching
the names of your brat attributes and retry the import.

Cheers,
