Hello NZ,

Can someone help me identify the attached?
I know it's a swim bladder, but the only one I found online that looked the same was from NZ.  Northern NZ, I think.

I also believe is it from a puffer fish/ porcupine fish/ blowfish...

Here's the thing,
I live in New Mexico, USA and I found it on the beach in Gulf Shores, Alabama, USA.
(Gulf of New Mexico, West end of Florida Panhandle)

Thank you!
Prudy

Your best bet is to put up an observation of it. It might take a while, but many of the fish experts do look at iNat observations, and only a very small subset of the community look at the forums. I get Ids on unusual marine organisms anywhere up to 3 years down the track!

Is there a reason for urgency, or is it just a curiosity thing? If urgent, you could try contacting your nearest museum, who could likely put you in direct touch with experts

cheers

Just plain old curiosity.  And the fact that NOBODY BELIEVES it was from NZ!!!
I find it very odd that it made it all the way to the upper portion of the Gulf of Mexico, USA...
Although I did find there was a shipping lane from NZ to the area where I found it.
