Hi!
I've been using Tata Photon Plus for almost a year now, and since November on my new Macbook without any problems. However, since yesterday, I am not able to connect to the Internet using it. I normally use it with the extension cord, so I've tried directly plugging it into the USB port, and also changing the ports, but each time, while the dialer shows me that there is network, it consistently tells me "No phone service detected, check your line and try again" when I try to connect.

I haven't to my knowledge changed any settings. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the modem, but that does not work either. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm trying to call the Tata Indicom tollfree number but I'm not able to get through on that one either. I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks.

Hi Swapna,

Kindly follow the steps,

1. Plugin your Tata photon.
2. Got System Preferences from above apple menu.
3. IN system preferences go to network.
4. You will see Huwai Modem ka icon left side of window.
5. In that click type the Telephone No: as #777, Use name and Password as internet.
6. after that click on advance button below the Password field
7. in that select Vendor as Others and Model as Huwai then click on OK.
8. Now Click on apply button and click on connect and check whether is connecting or not.

Two suggestions.

1. make it off the wi-fi connections  & connect again.

2. The status u mentioned mean  the dongle is not connected properly. very imporatant - You put support below the dongle, so it connects properly to usb port. This will work definitely.

Waiting for your confirmation

Hello Ajay!
Thank you so much. Your suggestion worked. My Photon Plus connection is now working. Do you know why there might have been a problem? I'm curious.

Thanks.

Dear Surya,

R u having issue with Photon or Connectivity with Airport wi-fi.

If its issue with the Wifi then which router u r using and also just check the Update from Apple menu by clicking on Software Update.
If you get some Airport Ka update available then download, install and update it.

I hope it will resolve your issue.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi,

I have the new MacBook Pro i5 model and when i install the TATA photon card drivers on the system it is not detecting the Huawei network and i'm not able to setup the Photon card on my new laptop.

On my Older model of MacBook Pro it was working fine.

Do suggest if anyone has faced the same issue on the latest version of MacBook Pros.

Pls suggest what is the solution for this so my Photon starts working on my new laptop.

Dear Ajay,

I have done the things what you have instructed i have installed Mobile partner.pkg file but after installing that machine should detect the Huwai Network as it throws that option on my previous machine after installation of the drivers but on the latest hardware of MacBook Pro it is not coming.

I tried manually also by going to System Preferences/Network and in the left sidebar it shows only Airport | Ethernet | Bluetooth DUN | Firewire and when i click on + icon to add new network interface there also i'm not getting any option for Huwai Modem.

Which Machine are you using now is it the latest MacBook Pro or the previous version.

Thanks and regards,

Dear Pankaj,

There is a issue, because by default  mac is booting in 64 bit Kernel OS. and your Photon is made for 32 bit kernel OS.

If you want to boot the mac in 32 u need to press 2 or three no of combination of keys and then your photon will work on it.
Try to do the following steps by booting in 32 bit OS.

Method 1: Startup key combination (for current startup only)

  • If your Mac uses the 32-bit kernel by default, but supports the 64-bit kernel, you can start up using the 64-bit kernel by holding the 6 and 4 keys during startup.
  • If your Mac uses the 64-bit kernel by default, you can start up with the 32-bit kernel by holding the 3 and 2 keys during startup.

Method 2: On-disk setting (persistent)

To select the 64-bit kernel for the current startup disk, use the following command in Terminal:

sudo systemsetup -setkernelbootarchitecture x86_64

To select the 32-bit kernel for the current startup disk, use the following command in Terminal:

sudo systemsetup -setkernelbootarchitecture i386

Note: This setting is stored in the /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist file and will take effect every time you start up from this disk. If you start up from a different disk, the setting on that disk, or the hardware default, will take effect.

Thanks and Regards,
Mr. Ajay Kumar Kaushal

Hi,

Issue with Early 2011 launched Apple MacBook Pros identified.

The drivers which comes along with the Photon+ is compatible with previous generation machines which was launched in Mid 2010 or before.

For the latest thunderbolt machines we need to update the dialer as well as the modem drivers.

For downloading the latest drivers for Tata Photon+ on for latest Apple MacBook Pro's which is launched in Early 2011 click on the following link,
