From a cardboard box in a dino’s talon,
Does anyone live their days like Calvin?
Hobbes did your homework (it’s all wrong)
Built a headless snowman? Come along!
Stupendous man reads codes of cypher,
Schrödinger’s cat? No, it’s Watterson’s tiger.

Is that too much energy for you? That’s fine.
Say hello to Garfield, the lazy feline.
Lasagna’s my favorite, the kitchen’s my world,
See the pink cat? Yeah, that’s ma’ girl.
Coffee’s the best, on Mondays we get crabby,
We all love this fat, cynical, orange tabby!

Let’s go visit the village of magical mishaps,
Romans go BONG, this place is a deathtrap!
Extraterrestrial alien in light of a yellow sun?
Nah! Around here, we just fall into a potion.
You can put on your armor. Make it brass,
Asterix and Obelix are kicking your… butt!

Get back to today, we all know Peanuts,
Charlie and Lucy and Snoopy and Linus,
It’s a comic strip about little kids-
Baseball, Beethoven, and wisdom that hits.
Adult-like kids, it’s a classic comic paradigm,
Oop, can’t talk, it’s my bedtime!

Billions of blistering blue barnacles,
Let’s go investigate those big tentacles,
Thomson and Thomson – they share a brain cell,
Prof. Calculus has too many, oh well.
Snowy’s found old bones in the dustbin,
Get ready for The Adventures of Tintin!

So if you like your comics, assemble your clans,
Mark your calendars, and all cancel other plans,
Literati presents: Battle of the batches - Comic Stans!

The division of the batches is:

1. Freshers
2. Sophomores
3. Thirdies
4. Fourthies
5. Fifthies + PGs + Alums (as per the previous spring semester)

While you chase a theme, we define it, refine it.
Four batches, one pattern, silent and unsure,
We've seen every cycle, your hype won't endure.

Freshers walk in like they started the wave,
Day one, confidence. Day two, they cave.

Sophies talk big like they're seasoned and wise,
One good semester got you believing in lies.

Thirdies flex experience like it's something rare,
We've lapped that stage while you're still stuck there.

And Fourthies, live in the moment, yeah savour the light,
Relevance fades... and yours ends tonight.

So with our futures knocking, our jobs at the door,
We leave behind a bunch of Hobbes on the floor.
So bow to the masters, the docs, the moms and dads
Find us Calvins pissing on your bachelor pads.

Just before anyone claims anything like slobs,
we unfurl our banner of Calvin & Hobbes
