New Specialized bike to be built

Hey folks

So, I bought one of the last remaining Specialized frames in the country to build a new bike. It's Allez DSW SL. It'll get the SRAM Red/Force groupset and homemade wheels from my existing roadbike.

Awesome. Let us know once you finished it's assembly. Just wondering if there's a particular reason why you went with SRAM group set.

Shimano stuff is a little roundabout to get here. Shimano India does not ship directly to consumers. It goes via some bike store. So I went for SRAM. Delivers in a couple of days.

I see. That's interesting to know. Additionally, I heard from a colleague of mine that there's an ongoing supply squeeze for bike and bike parts.

Yep there is a squeeze. New bikes are harder to come by these days. Need to wait for months to buy a new bike.

Why “one of the last remaining Specialized frames”? I guess it’s not something for longterm but temporary shortage due to COVID? Please do post images of the frame / bike also 😀

Specialized stopped selling in India a few years ago. This is one of the last remaining pieces in stock around here. I'll start building this weekend, perhaps.

I'm getting better tools for this build. A work stand, torque wrench, bearing press, saw guide, etc. I had to borrow stuff from my LBS for my previous bikes.

Wait, When exactly did they stop selling? The only dealer i knew in India was BOTS, and they don't take orders for specialized anymore? I bought mine from there 3 years back.

They stopped selling in 2018 I think. I got this frame from BOTS as well.

Okay. For what it's worth, i was surprised when i found that the average retail price for the model i bought in BOTS, was about 300€ cheaper than the same model here in Germany... In the hindsight, i felt that it was good decision to buy there and bring it here.
