Java Error

Dear IGV,

I downloaded IGV from the Broad website and when I open the program on my mac I see the dialog box "Unable to load Java Runtime Environment." How do I fix this?

Hi Jenn,

Did you download the Mac App? It requires Java 7, which can be downloaded from java.com.

Note however that older versions of the Mac OS do not support Java 7. In which case you would need to either launch IGV from the Java WebStart buttons on the IGV downloads page, or download the binary distribution and run IGV from the command line.
