Fellow IETians,

With a resounding recollection from NoPretence...unome(does anyone know what it means!), I feel unpresumptuous, my words would be just a drop in the ocean.

This forgetful event is a culmination of a long chain of unforgettable events…

Soon after the Na-jaa zoomed in popularity, I got in touch with Amit Chitranshi and Shivam Patel. Na-jaa, a product par-excellence by the 2006 batch. We had to celebrate its success. It renewed my interest in looking forward if we can again renew the Alumni chapter with a new rigour. It’s only now that I know that Dr A K Khare made an effort to have a formal Alumnus few years back which was led by some of our seniors. However, it couldn’t carry on as many of the Alumni associations members withdrew or shifted their base elsewhere.

Though Na-jaa brought in lot of good memories, the condition of the college building and the road that once was a witness to many of us.. made me and the organizers get together, get together so that we can reunite encore.. to give back our bit to our Alma Mater.

A short mail from Sanjay Agrawal, Daddy as he is lovingly called, kept instigating me that we need to hold another meet to move this journey forward.

We met for a Christmas morning tea party at my home.. The ones I could manage were the enthusiastic lot.. Sanjay Agrawal, Vikas Gupta, Akash Joshi, Sanjay Yadav & Parul Sangal. I did call a few others who couldn’t manage to come. So over the freshly baked cake and poori bhaji, Akash helped us make a broad agenda of the meet. The biggest success being that we could fix up the date as 11th Feb.

We met subsequently week on week and Ashish, Atul, Amit & Sabia joined the gang. I felt little uneasy in the absence of Rajeev. I kept looking for him through all the contacts I had. He had changed his number so was not contactable. I don’t remember exactly whether I got him or he called me, but it was surely something which eased me out. Though I have a very poor sense of judging, my sixth sense didn’t fail me this time. I knew that he is indeed my Man Friday.

Each of the organizers played their role perfectly.. Vikas with the tent arrangements, Akash with his contact list and helping with his ideas on the events. Sabia with the ideas on events and her planning for gifts, Amit with his badges, Sanjay with his venue and cricket arrangements, Shivam with his immaculate website and Rajeev was my PRO with all the arrangements.. Did I forget someone? Yeah all of you, coz I troubled you all with my calls and SMS at odd hours ;) as was pointed out by some of my dear friends to their spouses. Yeah all of you, who came, fought either the match or the sun and conquered. And more to those, who did not, as its enough motivation for all of us to hold more such events in future.

Ohh.. just one huge change, which shook our foundations.. the stormy weather a day before the event.. We decided to look for a change. It was too short a time to manage the change. We cancelled it, I don’t know whether for good or bad.

Good, as it gave us time to rethink our plan; Bad as I personally couldn’t give much time during this gap of almost a month. Bad also as many of the organisers and volunteers dropped out. My vanity said that we could easily reach around 150 nos. However, as the last minute drop outs increased.. we realized that we did not have much in hand for damage control. Cancellation of the arrangements was not possible in that time and the only possibility was to ensure maximum presence. And I would surely like to share the balance sheet with those keen as we have a huge shortfall to meet.

The D-day had too its own set of surprises or say we didn't anticipate well. Some beautiful ones and some not so beautiful ones. Rajeev has painted a picture so grand..  making me forget the trivia.

There is however a Silver Lining. That which encourages us to still hold on to it. Words from my organising team, words from the many who participated and many who couldn't.

And the dreams of the future generation. As Shivam predicts..
I can already foresee a filmfare style IET Alumni meet 6 years down the line ;-)
Or as Amit Chitranshi says.. This alumni meet is just a beginning to the destination we aim for. Today we are 70, tomorrow we will be 170, day after 1070..

Lastly this narrative from me, still wet behind the ears, is a tribute to the marvellous masterpieces of TP3 and Maverick. Their nostalgic illustrations have quivered our grey cells enough to experience ecstasy, making the journey as enjoyable as the event....

Thanks & Regards
Amita Singh

Amita,

Dear Ma'am, Thanks a lot for everything. Running the risk of people calling us a mutual admiration society, I must add that were it not for your unwavering wholehearted, fulltime, all-synthesising commitment towards the event, it would never have seen the light of the day. A bright breezy day at that! I have this handicap of unabilty to keep things short. But even a miserly account of the journey to this glorious end would run a few pages. In short: The Journey is the Reward.
The journey has been so rewardful. Getting to know such wonderful people, so many of them. Reading and then responding to the posts of TP3 was a privilege in itself.

I also thank all for so gracefully putting up with the lame language, unretentive accounts and incoherent thoughts of my e-mails.

Thanks all once again.
Best Regards
Rajeev Tivari
