For the next release, we are looking at cleanup the code base and deprecate/remove some rarely use modules/features.

We would like to know anyone is actively using the following stuff:

* Swing client
* Web Store
* Fitness testing
* Restlet commands
* Replication

We are using webstore but it is fine to move webstore in separate plugins. All things may not required in core.

One Idea is to keep classe and interfaces allowing login and session management in core but moving webstore plugins from iDempiere core to their own repository.

For webstore - How heavy are your using it ? Possible and/or interested to take over the maintenance of it ?

Hi @hengsin,

We are using Fitnesse & Selenium for testing and automated screenshot generation.

Note: we needed to upgrade some jars to get it running on latest idempiere versions and also integrated the Red1 rollback fixture.

If we are to move this outside of core (separate project), are your interested to take over the maintenance of it ?

We are not using out of box webstore, but have developed on top of it. But I say good idea to move it in independent repository and maintain there. So we can take over maintenance of webstore.

Hi Deepak, thanks for stepping up to take over the webstore maintenance. We plan to do the move sometime after the migration to git, stay tune.

Hi Hengsin,
First of all thanks entire Idemipre
Team for the hard work and excellent product.
Swing client is the one of the best tool for debugging command level and application dictionary level development.
So. It will be better. if keep this module bug free along with current system

I would suggest to remove and bring swing in a saperate application which we can maintain further.

Hi Heng Sin, can I suggest also if we can make jasper printing an external plugin?

Reason is that I've seen two attempts to create a better plugin (Thomas Bayen and Andreas Sumerauer) and from the experience with IDEMPIERE-2684 is not easy to replace the core plugin with another potentially better one.

WDYT?

Regards,

Carlos Ruiz

I guess with some work both the standard and Jasper print engine can be move out from core. That should also make it easier to experiment replacing the standard printing engine with reporting framework like dynamic Jasper, etc.
