Hi,

I am facing a problem whenever I try to send a document from iDempiere, such as an order. It's telling me that check setup. It can't send an email. The set up of email in the client has been done and it was successful. It's the setup in the requester Which I am suspecting as per the attached, but I don't know what to insert in the three columns of:

Request Folder
Inbox folder
Error Folder

Please assist

Email host request setup.PNG

Is there someone who can assist with this?

Have you set up the User to send email? If you are using Google as your email then there are settings within Google that need to be set as well. Your message is leaving out too many details for anyone to provide much assistance.

Hi.

In your user, you must fill in the field "EMail User" and "Email Password".

Regards.

Hi Maureen,

After just wrestling with this exact issue myself, I hope I can help you out!

  • You have posted a shot of the email request processor. Before you go into the the email request processor, get basic email working first.
  • Open the 'Client' window. Here you'll see mail settings, like the screen shot attached. Enter the mail server and a user email and password; test this on a phone or another email client to make sure the settings work. Start with basic settings, like the screen shot, get it working on port 25 with basic authentication before you try SSL/TLS.
  • If you're struggling with being able to use an email server to test with, you can use this: https://mailtrap.io/  which is great email test tool that gives you a user name and password and an inbox to test with and its free to use for small testing scenarios like getting mail in Idempiere working. I used when I had errors connecting to our email server from my dev setup and find it really useful.
  • Clicking 'Test email' should produce a popup with a success message and you should get a test email at the address of the user in the settings.
  • The other part of the email setup is to ensure that the logged in user has valid email credentials in the 'User' window, see screen shot. It's important to note that when you send reports from Idempiere, it's the logged in user's email and email password that is used to send the emails.
  • If all is working correctly, you should be able to click the 'Report' button in the toolbar of most windows and email a pdf from Idempiere.

Hi Phil,

Thanks a lot for responding and assisting. The problem has been solved. It's strange it was picking up the details to insert in the row "From". It's good to know you are using it in production. I am struggling with the setup and it's encouraging to note that others have managed. The roles have changed in our system, just when I installed the mobile plugin by ADAXA, posted by Red1. Anyway that's another issue. My point is, Open source is good but you have to go through a steep learning curve to get things work. Almost at the hedge

Hi Maureen,

Great that you got it solved.
I have used a lot of software over the years and I agree, the *pieres have a learning curve. The encouraging thing is though that there are many active members of this group that are highly knowledgeable that respond quickly; I've asked a few questions (still do!) and the response is always more than adequate. There is a great community feel about this project and if you have at least the basic smarts you'll get it working.

I'd much rather depend on this group to help over paid support from the like of say Microsoft!

Wishing you success and abundance.
