Login into translations keeps re-directing between Artefactual.com and Github.com

Hello AtoM users,

recently, I have tried to log into the translations site at https://translations.artefactual.com. After clicking "Login" and entering my Github account login, the site keeps re-directing between actefactual.com and github.com. After some time, the green button "Authorize translations.arctefactual.com" shows up. However, clicking the button leads to the same re-directing like before.

I have even tried to generate a complete new github account. However, same result.

Are there any things I have to change or to configure?

Hi Markus, 

My apologies, there seems to be a deployment bug affecting this. Our team is looking into the issue and I will post an update back here once we have resolved it. We also need to extract and push the latest strings for translation from the 2.7 release, so all new and changed elements are reflected and our community of translators can start preparing for 2.7. 

Sorry for the delay - I hope to have updates soon!

Hi Dan,

We seem to currently experience the same issue logging in to the Weblate environment with a GitHub account.

Also, should we still be working on 2.7 translations there, or have translations already closed for this version and a different version will be opened in the same / a different translation environment?

Hi Efthimios, 

Sorry for the delay. You have not missed the window for translations - we've just been stuck trying to resolve the authentication issue, and have recently decided to seek external support for this. 

Very shortly Artefactual will be moving the AtoM translations to a Weblate instance hosted by the Weblate team itself, rather than us attempting to self-host the translation software. This will allow us to focus on our projects instead of troubleshooting an application we're not fully familiar with, and ensure we have support from the developers in maintaining our Weblate version - meaning we can also get our Weblate installation upgraded, so users can enjoy the latest features. We hope this will mean setting up support for other social authentication methods, such as with a Google Account, since many archivists are more likely to have one of those accounts already rather than a GitHub one. Additionally, this allows us to support another business with a similar business model, releasing open source software while providing additional services. 

We are just in the process of coordinating this now. Once we've had a chance to properly reconfigure everything and we're ready to reopen the 2.7 translations, we'll make an announcement in the forum. 

In the meantime, thanks in advance for your patience as we work to resolve this!

Hi all, 

I apologize for the long delay. We have now coordinated with Weblate and set up a hosted instance, but right now it's still empty - we are coordinating with the Weblate team to overcome the authentication issue in our local environment and perform a migration of the user accounts and strings there. Once we have the content added and users are able to log in and begin the translation process, I will be sure to let you know.

Hope you can fix all issues soon cause we have highly motivated university teachers
that want to translate AtoM to Ukrainian )
