Some NAS boxes support virtualization, so (depending on the Synolgy device you have) you may be able to create an Ubuntu VM right on your NAS and (as Dan suggested) install AtoM using the standard instructions. In terms of installation that might cause the least amount of headaches. I don’t know how these NAS boxes are in terms of CPU and memory though, so the actual performance may not be the best.
I think the Synology boxes allow additional plugins/packages to be installed, so you might be able to install all the required bits (nginx, PHP 7, MySQL/MariaDB/Percona etc) directly. That would get rid of the virtualization overhead (and perhaps yield better performance), but I would guess the install process would be quite different than what’s documented on the AtoM site and may prove challenging.

Hello Alvaro,
I am not a developer or a system administrator, but I think you should start your research by looking for information on how to install Ubuntu on a NAS, so that you can follow our regular installation instructions from there. A quick search showed several promising results, such as the first answer in this thread:
Keep a couple things in mind.
First, make sure you review the Requirements for installing AtoM, and that your Synology NAS box can meet these. Keep in mind that we don't test this kind of installation, so we may not be able to assist you very much - AtoM is intended for production deployment on a server, and there may be conflicts. I just don't know.
If you are looking for an easy way to set up a local test instance on a laptop, regardless of operating system, you might want to investigate our Vagrant box. See:
