The Hooghly Chapter of Indian National Trust for Arts & Cultural Heritage (INTACH) invites you to a Two-Day International Webinar on "Domestic Heritages: Memories & Mirco-Narratives", to be organised in collaboration with The Indian Museum, Kolkata, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and with support from INTACH WB & Calcutta Regional Chapter, on Saturday & Sunday August 8 & 9, 2020 (4-7PM, IST).

CONCEPT NOTE (Brief):
This webinar proposes to critically engage with domestic space which is a site where domestic past is an unconscious chequered representation of domestic present. Individuals and families, voluntarily or involuntarily, act as agents of transmission of heritage through possession of material artefacts of the family, rituals, beliefs and the traces of memory. This webinar aims to graph ‘domestic heritage’ by focusing on the micro-narratives of individual and their shared collective memories within the parameter of private domestic spaces.

Call for Pre-Recorded Testimonials

Pre-recorded audio-visual clip of about 5 minutes, either in English/Bengali/Hindi and recorded from home, should be sent via email to hooghl...@gmail.com within 03/August/2020 for presentation during the webinar.

WHAT TO RECORD?:
One can identify any object present within the domestic space, obtained through inheritance over generations, which they contemplate having a value, memory or attachment to the respective family history. If the entity is tangible, e.g. costume, architectural patterns etc, document it through photographs and add information about it. In case of intangible entity, e.g. rituals, stories, songs, incidents, beliefs, cuisines, etc. one may perform, narrate or prepare it as authentically as possible based on recollection or memory.

Dear Ramanuj,

I'm very interested in the Hooghly Chapter's Webinar, described below.

I'm writing to ask you if there is going to be a link for overseas interested scholars to watch/listen, and whether it will be available to view after the presentations are over?

I ask because the times that you've published is IST, 4 pm - so in Australia it will start around 9 pm?

I do hope that you can make it available as revisiting Kolkata may be a long way off.

All best wishes for safety from the pandemic to you and all your colleagues.

With best regards,

Auriol

Dear Ramanuj Konar,

Thank for sharing such an interesting webinar. I am also interested in sharing a testimony about my grandparents experience around partition knitted around a photograph from pre partition times. Do I have to record it and just share it at the given email I’d? That’s it?

Thanks and regards,

Ishmeet
