Jordan,
The IRIG Time displayed in IADS is the Time value provided by the Data in most cases. While this can technically be any arbitrary Time value it’s most commonly GPS synchronized and as such most often matches UTC Time. Now it’s not unreasonable to have local
time zones applied to system Time Code Generators that then feed Time to IADS with an offset from UTC, but that information is generally not known by IADS in any manner that could easily be adjusted for in the displays. You can however use the CurrentTimeOfYear(
) and CurrentTimeOfYearWall( ) to attempt to determine the zone offset (automagically) and create a derived parameter that displays the UTC time in a Clock widget. However since the Time used by IADS is provided by systems upstream there is no way for it to
be applied to the IRIG time within IADS such that it will change what is displayed in the Timebar at the bottom or side of a stripchart.
Data Grid Setup is probably not the desired method to changing the grid values on the stripcharts if you want it to be dynamic. There are Properties under the Grids section of the Stripchart Properties (right click properties) that allow
you to change the GridFormat to increase or decrease the number of lines per mm of paper travel. IADS stripcharts are designed to literally mimic paper stripcharts, and while that may seem counterintuitive in 2025, it’s the basis for the specific properties
and resulting behaviors. For scales to be dynamic there is another section of properties that addresses that with DynamicScaling and the associated Dynamics properties in the Scale section. On the Main Menu to the far right there are red grids that set the
default Grid spacing for the whole Analysis Window. You can change that from 1 mm to 5 mm to get fewer lines or you can do it by Stripchart in their respective properties under the Grid section; specifically the GridFormat property. In addition to this if
you change the paper length to a bigger value it will ‘square’ off the grid lines. Once you deviate from this by setting the Data Grid Setup all of the default dynamics are disabled for how Data Grid Setup is configured.
Here is an example I came up with quickly using the next upcoming release of IADS 9.4. Other than “Dark Mode” everything here is easily repeatable in an existing version of IADS.

Chris,
The next release of IADS 9.4, which is scheduled for release in first part of Q3 2025, Dark Mode will be an option from the Dashboard right click menu. This will be the first version of IADS with a complete Dark Mode so not every Dialog in IADS will have a
Dark Mode, but the majority of what is displayed during a Real-Time mission will.

Hello Adam,
one off-topic question: How is it possible to activate that dark-mode in the "toolbar area", which I see in the screenshot that you shared? I was not able to figure that out until now.
Thank you
Chris

Hello IADS team,
Thank you for having this group available. It has been very helpful to answer one-off questions while transitioning from our current telemetry source to IADS.
When it comes to strip charts, I have been searching for a way to change the time display from IRIG to UTC time. Is this currently possible? We often share screenshots outside our team and having the UTC time as a reference is helpful if we need to dig into the data outside of IADS further.
For the data grid markings, I have found the "Data Grid Setup Dialog" page, but it seems that this only makes the scale values static. Is there a way to set up the division labels to be dynamic?
Lastly, once you change the stripchart grid format to time-based you lose the ability to easily change the grid spacing by using the toolbar options. Clicking on 1mm, 5mm, or 100mm options in the toolbar has no effect. While this makes sense due to the grid no longer being based on the mm format, it would still be helpful to remove some of the grid lines while time-based. Is there a way to do this? My current solution is to set the 1mm lines to white in the properties menu but this does not quite have the same result as removing them entirely.
As a reference, below is a picture of our current telemetry software that shows the UTC time at the bottom and the y-axis tick labels on the left hand side. I've grayed out our legend labels.

Jordan,
IRIG Time seen by IADS is defined by upstream systems and processed by IADS as it is received.
The value displayed in IADS is what is being sent to IADS based on how it’s configured upstream of IADS.
This is dependent on the Data Source Type along with (in the case of Hardware Decoms) the options selected during the IADS Start Wizard.
We would need to know what the Data Source Type is to know exactly where the IRIG Time is coming from, but for the most part it’s being configured upstream of IADS and the resulting value is being displayed as IRIG Time on the Dashboard.
Thank you,
Adam Chant

It seems my IRIG Time may not be configured correctly in this case. The IRIG Time I see in the dashboard starts as "001:00:00:00" and counts up in seconds. We do have GPS time available in our raw data, how do we get that into IADS as the IRIG Time?
