They were around last year but have not seen nor heard any this year...intensive land use is on the rise if that were even possible. Certainly around me. I suspect that is part of the reason why?

I have read they are unfortunately are considered a pest in South America where they eat a lot of grain when they winter there.  I believe through trapping shooting and poisoning there has been a large decrease in their numbers along with our own issues locally with pesticides and habitat loss
