Early this morning Hickory Hill Park in Iowa City was very birdy, although
there wasn't a lot of diversity with 13 warbler species. It seems like the
warbler migration is progressing very quickly. Highlights:
Mourning Warbler 2
Canada Warbler 6
Golden-winged Warbler 4
Magnolia Warbler 5
Blackpoll Warbler 2
Wilson's Warbler 1
Swainson's Thrush 6
Gray-cheeked Thrush 1
Then after a call from James Huntington (thanks James!) I went to Twinview
Heights west of Solon and saw the following:
Black-necked Stilt 2
Semipalmated Plover 65
Dunlin 25
Caspian Tern 3
There were hundreds of peeps but distance made viewing difficult. The
reservoir is rising quickly and the viewable habitat may not last much
longer.
