Context: UK Gov departments including NHS, Police, Military have a requirement for a SIRO - Senior Information Risk Officer. I'm unsure if anyone else, outside of UK circles, has such a need.

Anyway, for your consideration Gary, please see short Excel sheet attached.

Kind regards

Nigel

Thanks Nigel.  You're right: I hadn't come across that one.

I'll add an entry plus the abbreviation, with a definition along the lines of "Senior/executive manager with overall accountability for the management of information risks." ... a starting-point for now anyway, while I continue exploring that little side-arm of the extensive rabbit warren.

[As mentioned recently, I'm about a quarter of the way through the book, systematically compiling a list of the new terms and draft definitions that I've added since the 1st edition.  It is on-track to complete and release by the end of this month.  SIRO will be included.  Feedback, corrections and amplifications will be sought!]

Your spreadsheet is intriguing, Nigel - an unusually structured, detailed and explicit analysis of the term, with references.   Is that part of something much bigger, I wonder, or just a handy way to record and communicate this one term?   Other published infosec-related glossaries are an extremely valuable source of terms, definitions and inspiration for the hyperglossary.  I'm fascinated by the way new terms are coined, evolve/drift and either become a regular part of the lexicon or are quietly sidelined and disappear.

Kind regards/Ngā mihi,

PS  You'll probably find your glasses in the last place you look for them.  Funny, that.

In answer to the spreadsheet question, Gary. Long story short; For a considerable number of years I was employed as a poacher and on retirement from that role, I turned gamekeeper, teacher, auditor, consultant/implementor etc.. I'm now retired but, and bless her heart, my dear wife is still in the business of infosec/cybersec. During  her career I have created glossaries to match the context/scope of her role, primarily as amunition for her to debate the language that should be used and not that made up by CROs' or CEO's. Thus the spreadsheet with references.

I note one fascintating characteristic of those from NZ. My previous poacher life required trips into some odd and dubiouse places. Upon meeting up with NZ peeps in those same areas, a pub miraculously appeared. On susequent tours the pub had grown into a two story building made of some very odd material. Morale was high ...

Kind regards
Nigel
