The description of the book is presented below:

Description of the book:

This book provides a focused investigation into the unique and pressing groundwater sustainability challenges facing deltas in arid and semi-arid regions. It examines the extreme pressures of inherent water scarcity, compounded by pollution, climate change, and rapidly growing demands on these fragile systems. The volume presents robust and often innovative methods for characterizing aquifers and monitoring resources under these harsh conditions. It critically evaluates a spectrum of practical sustainability measures, ranging from advanced engineering solutions such as managed aquifer recharge (MAR) to the strategic integration of traditional and indigenous knowledge that has evolved over centuries. A central theme is the exploration of the interconnected Water-Energy-Food nexus and the complex social, economic, and policy dimensions essential to developing effective, equitable, and long-term management strategies. By focusing on the most water-stressed deltaic environments, this volume offers crucial insights for building resilience and adapting to an increasingly uncertain hydrological future. This work is critical for water resource managers, hydrogeologists, development agencies, policymakers, and agricultural planners operating in dryland regions, providing them with the knowledge base to ensure water and food security for populations in these vulnerable settings.

Keywords: Arid Deltas, Water Scarcity, Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR),  Water-Energy-Food Nexus, Pollution, Traditional Knowledge, Transboundary Management,  Climate Adaptation

Dear Asaad and hydrology team,

I am a PhD student of Earth and Environmental Sciences at IISER Bhopal. My dissertation work at Central University of Haryana for a master of science in Geography was focused on a similar problem, as you expect for Chapter 4: Groundwater Pollution from Agricultural and Industrial Activities. If there is an opportunity to contribute something in this direction, I will be happy to do so.

Regards,
Vikas
