Subject: Te Awa Kairangi - Hutt River Trail Update
Kia ora koutou,
We recently emailed you with regards to the closure of the Hutt River Trail on the western side of the river 800m south of Kennedy Good Bridge to 500m south of Melling Link Bridge.
We can confirm that the new temporary shared path on the eastern (city) side of the river between Kennedy Good Bridge and Melling Link Bridge will be open from later this afternoon (meaning paths on both sides of the river will be open this weekend). The new path is three metres wide, surfaced with compacted gravel, and will be set well back from Harcourt Werry Drive behind the streetlights, and closer to the riverbank in some areas due to existing vegetation.
The path on the western side of the river (800m south of Kennedy Good Bridge to 500m south of Melling Link Bridge) will be closed from Monday.
The riverbank reserve adjacent to Marsden St, south of Ewen Bridge and north of Kennedy Good Bridge remain fully open on both sides of the river.
Please follow the diversion routes as shown on the wayfinding maps (as per attached and installed along the paths), and note that these new routes will be slightly less direct for some users, so please allow extra time for your journey.
You can stay up to date with the Hutt River Trail and other programme activities via our website and Facebook page!
