Hi all,
I was at Moscow SVO the other day found the view across the airport
"nice", and hit "take picture" 5 times in a row while holding my phone
in portrait mode.
I then downloaded the pictures to my laptop and followed the assistant
to generate the panorama. I was unsuccessful: The controlpoint finder
told me it found none. It had automatically rotated images so that
looking at them in the control point editor was difficult It kept
suggesting wrong controlpoints when I manually added them. (click one
image where I can recognize a point click on the same spot in the next
image get to view a totally different part of the image with the point
I clicked out-of-view in the zoomed image).
In the end, in the six hours I had to spend at the airport I was
unable to generate a stitched image.
At home, I loaded the 6 images in hugin, hit find controlpoints,
sticht and... all positioned onto eachother: I didn't optimize. After
finding the optimize button restitching I liked what I saw. Some minor
adjustments and done. 5 minutes work.
Attached is the 1/4 scale image, the full res one is here:

Not the best phone camera, but you do get a picture of what you point
it at.
I was going to complain that the later versions of hugin are shit and
that it was a pleasure to work with the older versions.... Thing
is... I'm running 2018.0.0.5abfb4de7961 on both computers. I don't
know what's wrong with my laptop that it didn't work. (Ubuntu 18.04 on
both computers).
Roger.
