I am doing research into the church that I grew up in and the early records are in German. Does anyone on HTW know how to read German?

I can read German fairly well.  If it's more than a few centuries old it might be harder; does "early" mean 1700 or 1100?  :-)

Also, if it's handwriting, it's going to be difficult; German cursive writing is different from other Western European writing.

As for Google Translate, that might work but you have to treat it with a scoop of salt.

This is handwritten from about 1845 to the early 1900’s. These are digitized copies of the original bound volumes.
