Greetings all,

I am fascinated by the inventive use that so many of you make of so many
parts of the excellent HotPotatoes  resource,.

I use the JQuiz component in a most simplistic manner.  I try to emulate
a system that is used in Asutralia for the  assessment of knowledge for
Amateur Radio Licencing. I try to use the feedback component to
reinforce learning.

At the moment I have about 600 questions, with  4 multichoice answers.

Most of the answers have feedback associated with them. The syllabus
changes and so demands the questions also are maintained.

I find it inconvenient and awkward to manage this amount of data from a
review, editing and modification point of view.

I can see ther are a couple of "export" functions that provide text files.

The one "EXPORT FOR WEBCT" seems to have all the data related to the
questions, answers and feedback.

It would be fantastic if it were possible to reIMPORT such a text file
back into JQuiz.

Has anyone had a similar need, and managed to reIMPORT from a simple
text file back into JQuiz?

I would be very interested to hear.

Thanks for reading,

Best Regards

Colin

Hi there,

I'd forgotten all about "Export for WebCT". That should probably go
away, because WebCT was absorbed into BlackBoard in 2006. :-)

There's no way to import a random text file into JQuiz, because JQuiz
would not have any way of knowing what constitutes an answer, a piece of
feedback, a subtitle, or whatever. But JQuiz data files themselves are
(very simple) XML files, which are text (XML is a text format). If I
were in your situation, I'd set up an XML editor such as Oxygen with an
easy editing environment for JQuiz XML files. But that does require
specialist knowledge.

Cheers,
Martin

Give me a day or two and I'll try to explain how to do it fairly quickly.

Thanks for your reply Martin,

I only tripped over the WEBCT export in my quest...

It is actually an excellent complete representation of the data stored,
and IMHO  should be retained for that very reason ..

as it could easily be post processed in some way .. ( I already have
tried with medium success.. )

Someday, somewhere, someone else  will thank you for it.. ;)
