Fagu’s Kochuri shop at Baranagar

At Cossipore one evening Thakur brought fresh Hing Kochuri for his dear devotee Girish Ghosh. He was unable to move, still he moved his body by sliding along the floor to the corner of the room. He poured water from the earthen water pot into a tumbler. Poured that water on his palm to feel its coolness. He was not satisfied as the water was not cool enough. He then offered that water to Girish who was then enjoying Kochuri brought for him from Fagu’s shop in Baranagar market. Thakur was like s child, his cloth dropped off his body but he was pouring his grace on his devotee. Others present in the room did not stop him but watched in amazement the love of a Mother. Whenever I read this portion in Kathamrita in Bengali, my eyes turn moist. 

Today we visited Cossipore Math. On out return we stopped at Fagu’s shop at Baranagar market. I bought kochuri and vegetable chop and offered these to Thakur at home shrine. Attaching few photos of the shop for the interest of devotees. Its present name is Mkhoruchi. The original shop existed at this spot in a tiled shed. Later a brick and mortar building was built and the shop continued to function. 

If you happen to visit Cossipore, you may come to this place to taste some of their deep fried popular items called Telebhaja in Bengali.
