Hi there,

This is Yilun, from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
I am interested in implementing the machine learning model on an FPGA for quantum applications.
I have some RNN models for quantum applications, and want to translate them into FPGA language using hls4ml. However, I see the hls4ml tool for RNN/LSTM is still in development.
May I know the status of the development?
When can we expect to have that RNN toolkit?

Thanks and best,
Yilun

Hi Yilun

Thank you for your interest!

There are some implementations for RNN/LSTM in progress but likely are not ready for testing soon.  Depending on your system constraints, other architectures may be almost as good but more efficient (less resources, lower latency).  Happy to follow up more if you’re interested

Hello Nhan,

I am working on a project that might require implementing RNN/LSTM on FPGAs. Has the situation changed since April? Is it likely to change and have more support in the next year?

Thanks and best,
Maen

Hello Roshni and Maen,

Sorry for the late reply.
We are currently finalizing hls4ml support for LSTM/GRU layers. The link to our dev version is:

For the time being, you can test this version of the code for your studies.

Thanks,
Elham
