Quick update on the Nextcloud app

Hi all,

I've made some progress on the Nextcloud app. It's still a WIP but I've been using it to add transactions, edit transactions, and run basic reports all through the web. Here is what's done so far.


Garret and I were emailing a little behind the scenes and I might go ahead and and put up a demo site for people in the hledger community to try without having to set up your own Nextcloud. I'll keep you posted.

Give it a shot and let me know what you think.

  1. It defaults to a balance sheet report.
  2. Click an account name to view the account register.
  3. Click the edit button on a transaction to edit the transaction.
  4. Try adding transactions.
I hope you don't mind me grabbing the hledger.cloud domain. Nextcloud doesn't work without a domain and that one was on a few bucks.

I'd call this "proof of concept" software. There are a lot of hacks and shortcuts and I am brand new to Nextcloud and VueJS, so learning as I go.

When I try to register, I seem not to receive a verification code. (Two attempts, one of them an hour ago.)

The emails come directly from the server so they could be blocked by your host due to lack of reputation. I created you an account and emailed you the creds directly. Let me know if that works.

nice, nice job.
which hardware and software platform are you using (or you recommend)?
I gave up to setup a nextcloud instance on an old laptop because performances were awful

Ryan,

Great! This worked for me on the first try, very nice! I also like the disclaimer when signing up for an account.

The new Vue UI is clean and simple which I like. I will be posting a new update on my work on the static Linux builds very soon (thankfully, I've been relatively successful with this approach, but still working on it). https://github.com/37Rb/nextcloud-hledger/issues/17

Maybe that will happen, if I can get it reliability building on a CI system that is nicely integrated with GitHub. Getting the build to finish a little quicker might help too.

Hi Diego,

Sorry, I just noticed many of my notifications from this group have been labeled spam by gmail and I didn't see this.

I'm not enough a NextCloud expert to recommend hardware but I'm using a Digital Ocean droplet

Basic - Premium AMD
Shared CPU
1 vCPU
1 GB
25 GB
1 TB

I installed NextCloud with Cloudron. It's free to manage 2 apps.


They recommend min 512MB memory.
