 Hello Team,

I am preparing for ONC 2015 Edition Certification using the NIST Immunization Test Suite, and I would like clarification on the exact testing scope required during proctored sessions.

Specifically, I have the following questions:

  1. SOAP Envelope and SOAP Connectivity Tabs

    • When I share my screen with the proctor during certification, will they require me to demonstrate anything under the SOAP Envelope or SOAP Connectivity tabs?

    • If my Transport Settings are set to Off (manual message upload), do these tabs play any role in certification, or are they completely skipped since the ONC test plan only focuses on HL7 Context-Free and Context-Based testing?

  2. Context-Free Testing

    • For ONC certification, am I correct that I need to run the Context-Free validation using my system’s generated VXU messages (the same ones used later in Context-Based test cases)?

  3. Transport Settings

    • Based on the documentation, automated transport is not required for ONC certification. I plan to conduct testing with Transport disabled, by manually pasting/uploading messages.

    • Can you please confirm this approach is fully acceptable for certification?

I want to ensure that I am aligned with the required ONC certification scope and not spending time on areas that are outside the test plan.

Thank you for your guidance.

Best regards,
[Shanmukh]

Hi Shanmukh,

  1. SOAP testing is not required for ONC certification, and won’t be tested. The SOAP tabs and content are not relevant
  2. Only context-based testing is required for ONC certification. Context-free is not. Note, context-free and context-based use the same validation except context-based adds additional assertions based on the test data specified in the test case. Specific data checks are performed. See the documentation for a detailed explanation of how the testing process works. Your ATL can provide more information on their testing procedures as well.
  3. Yes, manually pasting/uploading messages is acceptable for certification

Regards,

Rob
