Hi All,
I've been tasked with scoping out an archiving project from Centricity Perinatal. I'm familiar with the data elements, but not familiar with how the data is extracted since it doesn't appear to be MS SQL.

Can someone advise on how the data is pulled. Its a proprietary system correct? Are there any on line tutorials? i can't seem to find any.

Thanks,
John

Your best course of action is to install Star Vista QRE Pro (Query Reporting Environment) – a desktop application that will give you access to the Star mumps database via ODBC connector.  This desktop application is an option that is available in conjunction with the Star system for an added fee, so hopefully your client already has it.  Documentation is available within that application.

There are companies that specialize in data extraction from Star for archiving.  DataEmerge in Ohio is one.  But any company other than Allscripts is going to need that ODBC connection to the database, so check on that first.

Hope this helps,

Judi Spillers

Hi Judi,
Does the Star Vista also give access to the Centricity CPN clinical documents (images)?

Hi John,

Sorry … should have read your message more carefully.  Star Vista works with Allscripts Star system, not Centricity.

Hi Judi,
No worries. I kinda figured that out after reading through the response a few times. Thank you anyway for your help.
