Does HFM v10.1.1994 work with Folding@Home v8 clients, or does it need to be updated to do so?

And if it needs to be updated, is there any estimate on when the updated version will be available?

I wonder what's happened to Harlam.

He hasn't responded to or posted a message here in over a year, since May last year on the Folding @Home forum and since June on the GitHub hfm-net Issues page, even though he released an update last November.

Well, I would ask this first...
What tests or results did you get that show a problem with V8 clients, and why would you think it won't work? HFM is only eating text scraps from logs, so I can't imagine its that easy to break.

Hey Jeremy, Hans, and others,

I am still alive. 😅 I've had to put HFM on the back burner since the beginning of the year but I'm going to attempt to find some time to dedicate to it. Day job and family life take priority.

However, I have already started a partial rewrite and upgrade in the following repo. Since many years ago, I've had a goal of allowing the HFM core to run without the GUI. This repo is focused on that goal. And now that dotnet is a first class citizen on Linux, this will open that door as well with the intention of moving to a web based UI for HFM.

A second goal for the rewrite is to stage the existing system to handle v8. I started looking at the bastet (v8) code tonight and I may be able to glean enough from that to get started.

@Hans - You are correct that in the v6 and prior days, HFM did nothing but log scanning to provide client information. But that changed when v7 arrived. v7 leverages a TCP connection. v8 requires a WebSocket connection.
