Hi gents,
I am unsure about regulations in other countries. The IARU allows 2.7k max on all frequencies lower than 29MHz. In Germany this is in the govermental rules for Hamradio. However I never heard about complaints from official sides.
regards

Jürgen,
The discussion about national rules and regulations is completely irrelevant. Anyone who uses this as an excuse either simply has no idea how amateur radio is organized internationally, or is deliberately ignoring our self-imposed rules and trampling on the ham spirit. Of course, national restrictions take precedence, and IARU rules don't override them. However, no national regulation on TX bandwidth by any means overrides IARU band plans. This whole discussion, however, is completely irrelevant to a serious OM. They don't do anything that unnecessarily consumes bandwidth or could disturb others. A ham doesn't need this cross-pollination and acting great! They proudly represent their own, personal, and unique call sign! But surely not to show others what a great hero they are for managing to turn up the TX BW in the menu...
Bragging. Nothing but mindless bragging.

Do you only operate within the USA? What do our elected IARU representatives meet for? They're trying to harmonize the various national regulations so that we can ALL get the most out of our bands with as little interference as possible. This can only be achieved by dividing the world into three regions, each with its own band plan. I can assure you, however, that none of the band plans lists a TX BW for J3E greater than 2.7 kHz. Not to mention the technical nonsense that's being abused here.

It's about orderly interaction, across national borders. Not about what the FCC may not explicitly prohibit. That's exactly what IARU band plans exist for. Is it really so difficult to understand? Come on, Richard. Of course not. You're just one of those people who doesn't care?

sorry it was not my intention to start WW3.
However is the 6khz regulation for Canada probably to allow AM on certain bandy. Especially under the light of cold polar winters, where you are heating your shack with a few 3z500...

if you habe followed discussions in the past (20 years +) the reasoning for larger bandwidth on lower RF bands was always AM. And clearly it is not limited to AM.
I personally would like to use AM from time to time. where reasonable. But local regulations don't allow this.
