Thetis v2.9.0.8-HL2 Beta5 install

I have tried the installation but I have failed.  Please let me know how to install.

I followed every instructions at the git-hub.

I attached the err massages.

My PC is old i5 CPU Window 10, 8G byte RAM.

I have successfully installed and am running Thetis on a machine with less resources than yours.

I see you are trying to run the beta from MI0BOT. Did you install the version of Thetis by MW0LGE first? You must do this.

I installed first  OpenHPSDR-Thetis/releases/download/v2.8.11/Thetis-v2.8.11x86msl.

Where can I get Thetis by MW0LGE?

Well, in my case I installed  2.9.0.8 - MW0LGE build from  Releases · ramdor/Thetis (github.com) it went to the install default location

then I unzipped the beta 5 from MI0BOT to the location he advises, C:/OpenHPSDR, finally create a shortcut of the .exe file from the  MI0BOT files on the desktop.

That worked for me.

I have made wrong subject.  The real subject is  Thetis v2.9.0.8 install not  Thetis v2.9.0.8-HL2 Beta5 install.

I am trying is the same msi file as you did.

Thetis-v2.9.0.8x64.msi

I hope I can install the program successfully.

Are you trying to open Thetis with a shortcut on the desktop, or are you clicking on (running) the .exe file itself? 
Try locating and running the Thetis.exe file directly. 

For reasons I didn't investegate, a friend of mine had a similar issue (with similar error messages) with his desktop shortcut.

I located Thetis.exe in the Window Program holder and executed thetis.exe but failed with same err messages.

Do you have a chinese version of windows? Maybe thats the fault.

There have been other users which have had this problem with Thetis and Asian languages and it is not unique to the HL2 branch of Thetis. Thankfully there is other software which you can use.

My computer is not a Chinese make and mine is ASUS made in Taiwan.

Of course I have PowerSDR working very well but wish to use Thetis in better skin with analogue look multi meters.

Again, this problem with Asian languages is not unique to the HL2 Thetis branch. No one here can correct this for you. You'll have to contact someone on the Apache labs forum and work with them to correct this, OR install a Windows OS in a language that is known to work such as English.

Window 10 is multi-language system.  I can switch Korean to English by one click or vice versa.

I do not think language problem affects HL2 Thetis.
Please help me.

All indications are that it is a language problem, we have previously seen this error with Japanese so it is likely to affect all languages which have multibyte characters. The Japanese user which had this problem got some other non HL2 specific Thetis version from someone on the Apache labs forum which did not have this issue, but of course is not going to have the HL2 specific optimizations either.

One of my friend told me today he was successful to install Thetis in his PC and his PC is Chinese MINI PC Chuwi Hero Box US$159.

His RAM is 8 G byte and OS is Window 11 with Korean language.

He sent me the attached picture.

Hi Kim,

I think it is best to start again from the beginning, so try following:

1. Uninstall Thetis using the Apps and Features menu by RIGHT clicking
the Windows icon.
2. Delete the following directories
    "C:\OpenHPSDR" - this is were you should have unzipped the HL2
version of Thetis
    C:\Users\<Your user Name>\AppData\Roaming\OpenHPSDR - this is the
data store for Thetis

Also delete any shortcuts you have have created pointing to Thetis .exes.

Now, download and install
https://github.com/ramdor/Thetis-2.9.0/releases/tag/v2.9.0.8 and then
forget about it. It only provides the skins and directory structure.

Download
https://github.com/mi0bot/OpenHPSDR-Thetis/releases/download/v.2.9.0.8-beta5/Thetis_x64_2_9_0_8-HL2-beta5.zip

Unzip it into a directory C:\OpenHPSDR. This should create a release
directory. Within this release directory, you should find a Thetis.exe.
Double click on the Thetis.exe and it should run v2.9.0.8-beta5

My Note book computer is old one.  I purchased it in 2016.

My computer has Intel i3-6006 CPU @2.00 GHz. and has 4 G byte RAM.

OS is Window 10.  I can not go to Window 11 because of old CPU.

I wonder old computer is not good for Thetis V.2.9.0.8.

OK, a couple of extra things to check:

1. Are you running 64 bit or 32 bit windows.
2. Do you get the same error if you run the Thetis.exe in directory C:\Program Files\OpenHPSDR\Thetis - This is the official release produced by MW0LGE.

If you are still getting the same error, there is something different in your computer, possible video drivers, that Thetis doesn't like.

I would ask on the official Thetis forum at https://community.apache-labs.com/viewforum.php?f=9&sid=02bbf874d8c4853528d48fbeba702ae4

Someone there may have experienced the same issue.

For reference, I run on a 2014 laptop under Windows 10, so I think it's down to something unique in your configuration.

Of course I tried to run the Thetis.exe  in directory C:\Program Files\OpenHPSDR\Thetis-v2.9.0.8.

I was getting  the same error.

Your are using old PC like me and I am looking forward succeeding in installing Thetis in the near future.

I am happy to know I do not have to change my note book computer.

I am successful  now in installing Thetis v2.9.0.8 and v2.9.0.8-beta5.

I reinstalled Window 10 in English language and the install the Thetis.

I thank you very much for the help from members of this user group.

New program is fantastic and beautiful.
