I am trying to use HL2 as a receiver with Thetis (v2.10.3.11)  with an SDR switch to control the freq of my Yaesu FT-710 (functioning as a 100 watt transmitter box).

I cannot get Thetis to communicate by correctly entering the Yaesu com port info in the Thetis Serial menu or via the Thetis Network TCP/IP CAT Server (using VSPE as the go-between).

Has anyone else done this successfully?!   I would greatly appreciate any help.

BTW, I can easily get CAT control of the 710 using Flrig via serial (and also Thetis and Flrig via TCP/IP server) but no go with Thetis and the 710 via either Thetis Serial or Network settings.

The CAT signals from Thetis are the Kenwood 2000 commands.

Thank you.  I have successfully setup WSJTX on Thetis using VSPE and the TS-2000 as the Radio within WSJTX and with perfect CAT control.

However, I still cannot get Thetis to communicate with the Yaesu Ft-710 (which supports TS-2000 for freq control, etc.).

It must be something very simple I'm missing but I'm stumped at this point!

I far prefer Hermes as Transmit before traditional radio I don't see and advantage of features to benefit ....however I will be directed to do the same as my HL2 has a transmitter issue I believe to be in its circuit either dry joint or failed component I am investigating.

So I have a Kenwood TS2000 ideal to connect via cat as transmitter and a Yaesu FT991A most likely same issue your are finding with Cat control capabilities.

I will follow your post with interest

I do this on my FTDX101D...
Thetis to a tci/omnirig bridge.
Omnirig comport to 101D.
I use the MAIN RX port on the 101D to feed antenna to HL2

Hey, Tom

Thanks you!  Quick question...I get the OmniRig to Yaesu com port connection but how does the Thetis TCI Server communicate with  OmniRig?

Tom,

Nevermind - it looks like I can use SDC to get it done.  Thanks again for your help.

Hi John -
No worries - I run both but prefer Thetis as I run a bunch of Anan's too here..
Like Logger, Rotator Control, Cluster, ect....all integrated together, all the TCI features
Love having all the spots and toys like I have on my ANAN when i want to run the 101D - which is getting less and less!

If you need- let me know

Thank you, Tom!

I actually finally figured out another way....maybe the easiest way, when using an SDR switch to use your Hermes Lite 2 and Thetis to CAT control your legacy HF transceiver: for use as a higher power transmitter:

1,  Download VSPE (or other virtual com port creation software.)
2.  Download Rig Sync.
3,  Use VSPE to create a virtual connected com port pair - e.g., com ports 14/15
4.  From Thetis Setup, select Serial/Network tab.
5.  Under CAT1 Control, select com port 14 and note your desired baud rate.  Click Enable to connect Thetis CAT1 to com port 14 created in step 3.
6.  Start Rig Sync and setup Radio 1 as Kenwood TS-2000 on com 15 with same baud rate you selected in step 5.  This connects Thetis to Rig Sync (since com 14 and 15 are shared).
7.  From Rig Sync, setup Radio 2 as your legacy HF Transceiver.  Be sure to select the correct enhanced com port of your HF transceiver.
8.  In Rig Sync, be sure the Sync tab has both radios selected.

Hope this helps anyone trying to use an SDR switch with Hermes Lite 2 and a legacy HF transceiver!
