You are not alone! I had an earlier version of Thetis on a Windows 10 Machine, and it gave the correct reading. About a month ago that computer died and I bought a Windows 11 Machine and loaded that same version as you and the same result... the power out on an inline power meter is correct where on that version of Thetis it is not.

In my earlier version you had a choice of Hermes or HL2. The version I have now only had Hermes. I could not find some slick button or tab to calibrate the Thetis power meter.

I think it is a good idea to have an external power meter so when you get an aberrant value on the external device... STOP transmitting!

Hello everyone,

I am using a Hermes Lite 2 together with Thetis v2.10.3.11. I do not have
an external PA connected, so I am only using the HL2’s native RF output
(approximately 5 W maximum).

Are you connected to a dummy load when checking the power out? A
mismatched or missing antenna will yield incorrect results.

Thetis (or whatever software shows the power) needs two machine-specific

to actual values in Watt.

Pete, you said below “In my earlier version you had a choice of Hermes or HL2. The version I have now only had Hermes.”…

If you only have a choice of Heme, and not also Hemers Lite, then you likely do not have the Thetis for HL2 version installed.  It can be found at

Releases · mi0bot/OpenHPSDR-Thetis

Here is my title bar info showing it is the MI0BOT version

This is what you see in in Setup for the MI0BOT Thetis for HL2 version.

Note the Hemes Lite option is shown.  Also, the HL2 I/O Board checkbox is available along with other features elsewhere.

Hi Pete, Mike, and all,

thanks for the additional input.

Pete: good to know I am not the only one seeing this behavior. My external inline meter also shows reasonable power, so it really seems to be just the Thetis TX meter indication that is incorrect.

Mike: I can confirm that I am indeed using the MI0BOT Thetis build for the Hermes Lite 2. In the Setup dialog I have:

  • “Hermes Lite” available as a device option

  • the HL2 I/O Board checkbox visible and enabled

So it should be the correct HL2-specific version of Thetis.

What I observe at the moment is the following:

  • in the PA Values window, Cal’d Fwd Power is around 6 W on 20 m when I press TUN

  • this value looks correct for HL2

  • however, the TX meter on the main display still indicates about 45 W

  • I cannot select “calculated forward power” as a meter source

In PA Settings I can see the “10 Watt Meter Trim” entries (1–10 W). I assume these are intended exactly for the HL2, but I am still uncertain whether this is the right place to correct the front-panel meter reading, or whether there is another meter scaling setting that I have overlooked.

So my open question is:

Has anyone calibrated the TX power meter in the MI0BOT HL2 Thetis build successfully, and if yes, did you do it using the 10 Watt Meter Trim table, or is there another method?

Thanks again for all your help, it is very much appreciated.

Martin
