First off, I received my HL2 a few weeks ago. This is my first venture into SDR and having a blast.

I'm currently working on interfacing my Mercury antenna tuner and have installed the components needed on the endcap (Q4B,Q6B, resistors, etc.). The idle voltages are as described in the writeup with the exception of changing Q4B to 3.2v (J3-1 Vsup to RearIO 3.2v ) to better match 5v logic levels of the Merc.  However, Thetis (MI0BOT 2.10.2.2.) will not trigger the tuner to begin tuning. When clicking the tune button, I see RF output at 5 watts at the tuner. In reading the endcap  docs and some later write ups I found, I have the items ticked under the PA Control Tab- Enable Full Duplex & Enable PA. One item I can't find under MI0BOT's Thetis, "Disable Filters"  I noticed  an additional sub tab "ATU" and have selected various combinations of items under that with no luck.

All that said- SparkSDR will trigger the tuner as expected, so I don't believe there is a hardware issue with populating the endcap or wiring to the AT. I can also run the main branch of Thetis and tick under Hardware "Alex" and the under Alex untick "Disable Filters" at which point clicking tune will fire the AT.  I am obviously missing something in the MI0BOT Thetis variant setup, but after reading numerous threads and methodically looking through options, I have not had any success. Could anyone running an ICOM AH-4 or other tuner, as appropriate, share their configuration?

TY!

Hi Allen,

The functionality to trigger the tuner is currently disabled in the HL2 variant of Thetis but this will be enabled in the next release. This is not the tuning feature available with the I/O Board, that will come later.

Thank you Reid! I I had the thought of not being enabled in the back of my mind, but not having an AH-4 to test had the thought shoved way back being preoccupied with the Merc. ;)

Some back ground info in case anyone comes across thread. The Merc ATU has a 3.5mm TRS jack for tune control. It is straight forward, short duration low pulse to trigger tune (ring) then pulls tune ack low  (tip) until tuned and then releases high. Sleeve is ground.

Appreciate your response and most definitely appreciate your efforts with your variant!

Wow , that was quick Reid!  Downloaded your latest, quick test, tuning was triggered. Next item, upon successful tuning completion by the ATU, there was still RF output, clicking Thetis Tune button turned it off. Is that the default behavior or do I have some digging to do?

The weather is not great here today, so though I would make the change. Thanks for confirming it worked.

There is no feedback using that tune method but the new I/O Board has the ability in the protocol to report back on the tuning operation. I don't have anything to test with, so I haven't supported it yet but it will come.

I will likely end up buying an I/O board in the near future. Went with endcap method for now as I happened to have everything needed on hand to populate the end cap for tuning. Not sure if the plan is to bake in various tuner's and their responses or concentrate on Icom's AH4 method as it seems to be a de facto standard of sorts with other manufacturer's tuners. That said, If you are looking at adding different tuners and would like data on the Merc's method, very happy to provide data (timing & state) of the two control lines and test your code base with it.
