Hi all,

My recent near miss with my Hermes applying over-voltage ahs me seriously considering buying another. Anyone here in the group have recent experience and associated costs from DHL buy and shipping one to the US?

In August, DHL held up an HL2 PCB from Makerfabs until I remitted $22.81 to cover the Import duty.  DHL emailed me an Import Duty Alert with Makerfabs waybill number on it and the amount of the duty.  There was no extra service fee at that time.  I think I paid via the DHL Mobile app on my iPhone.  The HL2 PCB arrived (in California) about 2 days later than originally expected due to this extra step.

I bought a second main board last week. I paid 24.00 for DHL. It arrived yesterday. However I had to pay 21.00 customs duty fees. DHL emailed and texted me and I paid with PayPal.

I'm not sure if this applies to small shipments of amateur radio equipment but most countries consider amateur radio equipment duty free.  I'm in the process of arranging a shipment to a European customer.  The shipment will be exported from the U.S. to Sweden "duty free" using "Harmonized Tariff Code" 8525 60 0000.  This is the tariff code provided by the customer in Sweden that allows his company to import amateur radio equipment duty free.

Jim, You made me curious so I googled and found bits and pieces leading to a "maybe". When I asked chatGPT, it referenced this site: https://www.datamyne.com/hts/85/852560  and did a pretty good job - although lengthy, of summarizing. Here is the link with all the gory details: https://chatgpt.com/share/68d47a1b-f1f4-800e-bfa0-7baa25e09de9

Hi Allen,
So, do you think code 8525 60 0000 will work for individual transceivers?   We're using the number for amateur radio antennas, coaxial switches and coaxial surge protectors.
