I'm nominating Sarah McCann for card access. Please comment with your support and anything you'd like to add.

Sarah taught a Make a Ring class with Heather in May 2019 and has been a HeatSync member since before that.

Sarah has coordinated the purchase of jewelry station tools and supplies and used funds from classes to buy more tools as well. Among them a great dapping set, and disc cutter.

She has hosted over a dozen jewelry classes and meetups (combined).
People love her classes and will even repeat the same class to do it again.

She did a phenomenal job during Beginners Day and a lot of guests that day mentioned how well that station was represented and how fun it was.

Lots of people know who she is which is cool. Random people will come to the lab and say oh yeah I've known Sarah for years.

It's just an idea until there's a date and time included.

Sarah is amazing, and an asset to the lab.
I think giving Sarah card access is a very smart idea. I’m embarrassed I didn’t think of nominating her long ago, and would happily vote in favor.

I totally support Sarah for card access. She has been instrumental in bringing the jewelry station to life. This is evidenced seeing many creative works from jewelry on our social media. Card access will eliminate the need for another person to host so she can run events on her schedule.

Sarah is such an asset to HeatSync. This card will allow her to do even more. I am really glad she is part of our community.

I've heard her name here and there over the emails, haven't had a chance to meet her, but, I've seen the jewelry station grow indeed.

It's always great to hear such good people are behind Heat sync's effort.

Sarah is an amazing asset to Heatsync. She is willing to give 110% and should definitely be given card access.

I like Sarah too, agree she is good for HSL, and support card access.

Thanks for nominating me for card access, Eric, and thanks everyone for your support.

This really means a lot to me. It’s nice to know that what I’m putting out there is being well received. Validating, I suppose. It’s a relief to feel seen.

When I think about having card access I’m filled with a sense of ease at the freedom of being able to go to the lab whenever I want, and hosting classes and meetups around my schedule really just means I can work with the schedules of other people much better.

When I first came across HeatSync in 2018 I felt a sense of community that had been lacking in my life for a couple of years at that point, and that kept me going back. Heather was just getting the jewelry station going at that point, and that timing was just perfect for me, really. Serendipitous.

I’ve been making jewelry in some form or another since I was a young child, and although my interests and hobbies include many other arts and crafts, making jewelry has been a constant in my life.

I started my metalsmithing journey in 2010, and that’s what I most look forward to sharing with people. Things like forging, soldering, stone setting, acid etching…

But I’m happy to share everything I learned up until then too, which is what I’ve been doing so far. My classes have involved some metalsmithing, for sure, but we’ve also done a lot of wirework and some beadwork too.

I’ve been putting all the money I’ve made from the classes towards tools for the jewelry station so far. So each time I teach a class I’m a bit closer to being able to teach more things.

I started off with buying enough hammers and bench blocks to teach a riveting class, and from there was able to buy multiple sets of pliers and cutters to teach some wirework, and then a dapping set and bench block (which other people contributed to as well) and a number of other miscellaneous hand tools.

Eric made multiple bench pins and bead looms, too.

And through my local buy nothing group we acquired someone’s aunt’s collection of seed and bugle beads, and two rotary tools.

I’m probably forgetting something, but the point is that it’s slowly but surely all coming together.

I plan on continuing to put the money from classes towards tools and materials for the foreseeable future (until we have a decent collection, basically), and I plan on continuing to teach anything I know how to do that anyone is interested in learning.

So that’s a bit about me and what I’m doing at HeatSync. Feel free to ask me about anything.

Thank you for the opportunity to be part of such a welcoming, warm, and creative community. It really means so much to me.

Sarah

I think this is so exciting to see the jewelry station activated as it has been! I believe some of the jewelry station components were seeded with the Made on Main Street grant funds we administered and the goal was to bring in additional makers into the space with different interests and passions and expanding tool access.

None of this happens without a passionate leader and I'm so excited to see Sarah take on that role!

So glad to hear from so many people showing support. I don't think it's been said but the jewelry display was also really great and people enjoyed having that in the window.

Got another comment from Jason Hook who is from Prescott has come down to help the Jewelry station when they were starting out and as recently as Beginners Day.

"I can definitely vouch for Sarah to have card access. She is very ambitious and organized as well. She takes ownership for the facilities and tools, as well as how to use them. She's a great team member and resource!"

Sometimes cool things just happen, but usually you have to plan them.

I absolutely support Sarah's nomination for key access. Within the community she has been an invaluable resource with a tremendous volume of knowledge which she enjoys sharing and teaching to anyone who asks. She has made strides to expand the jewelry station and make it a center of activity for the greater community to come to make and learn.

On a personal level, she is a wonderful, bright, friendly person. When she comes in, the lab is sunnier. From day one of coming to Heatsync it felt like Sarah had been part of the lab for years...I didn't realize she wasn't a card holder yet.

Can I vote more than once? :)

Absolutely! I didn't realize she isn't already a card holder. She is always happy to help where needed and teach classes. She is amazingly patient and so full of knowledge. We are by far a better community with her.

Remember to actually have to show up for HYH to vote for this proposal. You are not voting by simply saying Sarah has your vote. You actually have to show up at HYH.
HYH is this Thursday... Please do your part!
Thanks,
